INTRODUCTION

It has been an objective for many years of various groups to connect the various sections of walkway which follow the foreshores of Sydney Harbour. Waverton Precinct has been part of this push, with some successes including linking from Waverton Park through Carradah Park, its extension by temporary connection to Balls Head Road and on to Balls Head, and the linkage through the coal Loader tunnel. However, there remain gaps in the route and threats to its maintenance. There are also emerging opportunities such as the potential to interconnect waterside walkways with the proposed Highline scheme.
